Dr R.A.’Kitty’ Morgan-Jones
A transatlantic touch with cosmopolitan leanings
I was born in the USA and came to the UK in 1970. Today I am both an American and British citizen meaning I can vote in both countries. I obtained my undergraduate degree at Pennsylvania State University and my training in social work at the University of Chicago.
So I bring a transatlantic perspective to my work with individuals, couples and families. My American personality is direct and outgoing and I have a ready laugh. |
However, after living intimately with reserved English people for 50 years and doing three qualifications in the UK, I have definitely acquired considerable understanding and appreciation of the English way. Nevertheless, in addition part of my heart is also very European due to frequent travels on the Continent and the fact that my father and his family were German Jews.
I am a permanent resident in the UK and my private practice is now based in Whitstable, Kent. However, I continue to visit the USA regularly, both to see family and friends and to attend professional conferences and workshops.
This mixture of English, American and German influences enriches my work. It also means that I have a personal understanding of the psychological factors in maintaining a cross-cultural identity. If cross-cultural issues concerning relocation, immigration, international marriage or dual nationality are troubling you, contact me for a consultation.
